MUSICIANS and singers gave their services free of charge and friends turned out in great numbers for a benefit night for hugely popular Killarney mechanic and family man John ‘Sully’ O’Sullivan who is recovering from a serious illness in a Dublin hospital.
The Woodlawn man became very ill with sepsis two months ago. He was transferred from University Hospital Kerry to the Mater Hospital and he is facing a long recovery process.
Friends of the much-loved self-employed mechanic – a great rally enthusiast – formed a committee to organise a fundraiser for the dad-of-three and a night of music and son in the K Town Bar and Grill was incredibly well supported by so many people from the town and beyond.
The big event was organised by Sully’s close pal Donal Shine – an accomplished musician – and in addition to all the local balladeers that supported the event, DJs Niall O’Callaghan and Gavin O’Leary also helped make it a night to remember.
A DVD of the night was filmed and delivered to the Mater Hospital for Sully and his wife, Michelle, and all of their friends and neighbours in Killarney have sent their best wishes to them both.
