An education evening on healthcare and humanity in Gaza, chaired by eminent Oxford based consultant surgeon Professor Nick Maynard, has been scheduled for the Brehon Hotel in Killarney on Thursday, July 18 (7.30pm).

It is being organised by the Kerry Healthcare Workers for Palestine group which includes Dr Brenda Moran, a GP and women’s health specialist living in Killarney and Dr Geraldine Rochford, a GP based in Listowel.

The voluntary group advocates for a peace and a lasting ceasefire in Gaza and members hold monthly vigils outside University Hospital Kerry to highlight the atrocious condition of healthcare facilities in Gaza and the plight of medical colleagues there.

Professor Nick Maynard, a leading gastro-intestinal surgeon, has more than 25 years of extensive experience in his field of expertise.

He has been travelling to Gaza for well over a decade providing medical education and training to healthcare workers in both Al Shifa and Al-Aqsa hospitals.

The Killarney event is an opportunity to hear a first-hand account of the dire condition of the healthcare system in Gaza. It will be donation based with proceeds going to the Palestine Children Relief Fund.
