THE multi-talented Spa-Muckross Community Games set dancers have stepped into the history books in some style by winning gold in the national finals in Athlone on Sunday.
The all-conquering troupe comprised Leah Moynihan, Rachael Moynihan, Ava O’Sullivan, Sarah Randles, Liam Spillane, Gary O’Sullivan, Cian O’Sullivan and Christopher Carey.
The delightful dancers were coached by the vastly experienced Triona Mangan and everybody involved in the Spa-Muckross Community Games organisation have passed on their thanks to Triona and sent a message of congratulates to her for her upcoming nuptials on Friday.

“All the team and parents which both Triona and Sean a wonderful life together,” said Spa-Muckross Community Games secretary, Denise Moynihan.
Meanwhile, the Fossa Under 10 footballers team scooped silver in the All-Ireland Community Games finals in Athlone.

They won two out of their three games against the best in the country and actually beat the gold medal winners, Clann na Gael of Roscommon, in their head-to-head on Sunday morning on a scoreline of 3-6 to 3-4.

Their only loss was, straight off the bus on Friday evening, was in their opening game against Clane of Kildare. They were narrowly pipped in that encounter on a 1-6 to 1-4 scoreline.

On Saturday they met Monaghan town and raced into a 3-9 to 0-3 lead by half time. However Monaghan stormed back in the second half and Fossa just held on to win by 3-11 to 3-9.

Well done to all the girls and boys and their mentors Kieran O’Brien, Mossie Lyons, John Dineen and Damien Dennehy.
