THEY’RE not under starter’s orders just quite yet but the demanding training schedule is already well underway for this year’s Gleneagle Run Killarney which will attract athletes from all over the country and beyond to town.
The big event is planned for Saturday, July 22 with the Killarney National Park the focal point as participants choose between a half marathon and a 10k course. The latter will start on the Muckross Road finish at the Gleneagle Hotel while the half marathon will start at Moll’s Gap and conclude at the Gleneagle.
“We are very lucky in Killarney to have the natural resource of Killarney National Park on our doorstep. What better place to run? The routes for this year’s Gleneagle Run Killarney utilise the beauty and tranquillity of the lakes and woodland,” the organisers say.
Runners will pass some of Killarney iconic landmarks, including Moll’s Gap, Ladies View, Torc Waterfall and Muckross House
Both routes have been designed to be as flat as possible or downhill in some places to ensure the fastest times. Full route details and map profiles are available on www.runkillarney.com
