
ARRANGEMENTS are in place for the staging of the Kilbrean Cup and Shield on the weekend of August 22/23 at Kilbrean Park, Killarney.
The Under 13 schoolboys’ soccer competition is hosted by Mastergeeha FC and sponsored by Hotel Killarney.
There will be two groups of four teams and each team in the group will play each other on a round robin basis in 15-minutes-a-side games on the Saturday.
The top two teams in each group will qualify for the semi-final of the cup and the bottom two teams will qualify for semi-finals of the shield to be played on the Sunday with the winners competing in the final of the cup and the shield respectively. All teams guaranteed a minimum of five games over the weekend.
This year there will be five teams from outside Kerry – Granagh United from the Desmond Schoolboy League, Barna na Furbacha Aontaithe from Galway, Springfield Ramblers from Cork, Shelbourne FC from Limerick and a team from West Waterford/East Cork League.
They will be joined by Killorglin, Kenmare and progressive host cub Mastergeeha.
The draw has now been completed and the groups are as follows:
Group A: Killorglin, Barna, Mastergeeha and Granagh.
Group B: Springfield, West Waterford/East Cork League team, Shelbourne and Kenmare.
