Kila to top the bill as Milltown remembers Denis

Milltown’s street entertainment programme will feature one of the top acts in world music, Kila, playing on the Saturday night

EXCITEMENT is mounting ahead of Fleadh Cheoil Chiarraí 2019 which will be officially launched at Bleachfields Bistro, Milltown, this Friday at 8.00pm.

The Fleadh will be held on Jun1 19-23 and it promises a weekend of top-quality, free family entertainment.

The Fleadh will be launched by Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport, Brendan Griffin, in the company of outgoing Mayor of Kerry Cllr Norma Foley and main sponsors Chapter 23 Kerry and West Limerick Credit Unions, and it will feature music and special guests.

The Fleadh competitions will see the cream of Kerry traditional music vie for a place in the Munster and All-Ireland fleadhanna but is also an opportunity to enjoy and celebrate the vibrant trad scene in the county.

Milltown’s street entertainment programme will feature one of the top acts in world music, Kila, playing on Saturday night, June 22. This is a free, outdoor gig and it will also feature support acts from around the county.

Friday night and Sunday afternoon will feature the outdoor ceilidh and children will be well entertained, with a drumming workshop on Saturday, a funfair and party games.

All young musicians are invited to join in the Denis Courtney Memorial Street Entertainment Competition and have a crack at winning some of the €500 prize fund, sponsored by the local Rathmore and District Credit Union. There will be sessions in the local bars all week and the annual singing club takes place in Larkin’s Bar on Thursday night.
