HIS knowledge of the local entertainment scene is so vast that dapper music man Kieran Healy mightn’t even need to phone a friend before making his final deliberations at the eagerly-awaited Killarney Sing-Off stageshow on Thursday night.

A familiar face at the local Vodafone store, away from his day job Kieran is the charismatic frontman of in-demand wedding and occasion band Truly Diverse and he has been confirmed as one of the celebrity judges for the big event at the INEC.

Kieran’s charm, wit and good humour never fails to win over audiences and he is expected to be a big hit on the night as he pours over his deliberations with the other adjudicators, all under the watchful eye of colourful master of ceremonies Niall ‘Botty’ O’Callaghan.

Killarney’s first ever Sing-Off has been organised to raise funds to support local man Anthony Morris who is currently undergoing extensive and expensive treatment for debilitating Lyme disease in the US.

All proceeds on the night will go to Anthony’s fund and, such is his popularity, there has been no shortage of volunteers ready and willing to strut their stuff on stage, miming and dancing their way through a selection of hit songs.

Contestants will include local hairdressers Pat O’Neill, Sean Taaffe, Triona O’Shea and Elyse Brosnan who will attempt to emulate the energy and colour of ABBA while popular skip hire king Batty O’Sullivan will undoubtedly be a big presence on stage.

Photographer Marie Carroll O’Sullivan will step out from behind the lens for one night only, teacher John O’Donoghue and physiotherapist Ruth Allen will do a delightful duet as will Dr Crokes footballer Ambrose O’Donovan and Fiona O’Connor of the INEC.

The game-for-a-laugh Ciaran McCarthy from Fossa will prove he’s a great sport while DJ Gavin O’Leary is said to be busy rehearsing for the big event.

And then, of course, there will be the battle of the boybands with Kevin O’Regan, John Cronin, Andrew O’Sullivan and Michael Finnegan joining forces and Gabor Szucs, Niall O’Sullivan, Kenneth Clifford, Leonard O’Sullivan, Colm Foley and Andrew Joy doing likewise.

The early favourites could well be musicians and DJs Alan Finn, Eanna Grealy, Patrick Dennehy, Cathal Flaherty and brilliant singer-songwriter Tom Lucey who are no strangers to the limelight and are ready to strut their stuff with a vengeance.

Tickets for the big night, which are being snapped up with great enthusiasm, are available from Charlie Foleys, Who’s 4 Shoes, the K-Town Bar and the INEC.
