Kevin McCarthy in for Micheál Burns

Kevin McCarthy in action

THERE is one change on the Kerry senior team to face a rejuvenated Galway side in the first of the Super 8 clashes in Croke Park on Sunday (4.00pm).

Kevin McCarthy of Kilcummin starts at right wing forward in place of Micheál Burns of Dr Crokes who had started in all of Kerry’s championship games to date.

McCarthy was introduced against Cork in the Munster final and caught the eye with an all-action performance but, it is expected, the livewire Burns will get to sample the action in Croker at some stage on Sunday.

Veteran Donnchadh Walsh of Cromane comes back into the matchday panel after a long injury lay-off and the unlucky player to lose out is Barry O’Sullivan of Dingle.

Kerry: Shane Murphy (Dr Crokes), Jason Foley (Ballydonoghue), Peter Crowley (Laune Rangers), Brian Ó Beaglaoich (An Ghaeltacht), Paul Murphy (Rathmore), Tadhg Morley (Templenoe), Gavin White (Dr Crokes), David Moran (Kerins O’Rahillys), Jack Barry (Na Gaeil), Kevin McCarthy (Kilcummin), Sean O’Shea (Kenmare), Stephen O’Brien (Kenmare), David Clifford (Fossa), Paul Geaney (Dingle), James O’Donoghue (Killarney Legion).

Subs: Brian Kelly (Legion), Kieran Donaghy (Austin Stacks), Micheál Burns (Dr Crokes), Killian Young (Renard), Barry John Keane (Kerins O’Rahillys), Anthony Maher (Duagh), Darran O’Sullivan (Glenbeigh/Glencar), Mark Griffin (St Michael’s Foilmore), Ronan Shanahan (Austin Stacks), Tom O’Sullivan (Dinge), Donnchadh Walsh (Cromane).
