Kerry’s young Einsteins more than made their presence felt with some tremendous projects that caught the eye at the 60th BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition at the RDS in Dublin.

President Michael D Higgins and his wife, Sabina, were among the VIP visitors to the Kerry stands and they were more than impressed with the skill, creativity and know-how on show and the presentation skills that were demonstrated by the students.
The Kerry entries, many of which figured among the prizewinners, included:
- Enna Thineaud, Joseph O’Connor and James Doody from CBS The Green, Tralee shoes project was project Enhancing soil health and crop growth to natural soil enhancers: A comparative study
- David O’Brien, Oisin Hanley and Jamie Crowley Wharton from Pobalscoil Inbhear Sceine Kerry whose project was project Radish Radiance
- Ciara Murphy and Saoirse Murphy from Presentation Secondary School, Tralee Co Kerry who entered a project called ACT {Aid, Care, Treat} – an immediate, accessible, technological aid to assist in emergencies, supported by a comprehensive repository of medical information
- The second year Junior Group award in the Chemical, Physical and Mathematical Category went to Conan Seino, Feidhlim Kevin Ginty and Torran Millar, Mercy Secondary School, Mounthawk, Tralee, Kerry for the project How can the mechanics in origami be applied to modern engineering?
- The third Intermediate Group Award in the Technology Category to Donncha Enright, Ethan Ward, CBS, The Green, Tralee Kerry for the project Designing and creating an AI platform which can aid in differentiating learning in mixed ability classrooms in a constructive learning setting
- The second Senior Group Award in the Technology Categor ywent to Jim Culhane and Paula-Eve Culhane, Tarbert Comprehensive School, for the project CPR Pedal Chest Compression Device Mark II
- The third Junior Group Award the in Biological and Ecological Sciences Category went to Emma O’Sullivan, Siena Ryan and Una O’Shea, Pobalscoil Inbhear Sceine, Kenmare, for the project Memory Matters: Investigating the Forgetting Curve
- The second Intermediate Group Award in the Health and Wellbeing Category went to Kate O’Connor and Sophie Ryan, Pobalscoil Inbhear Sceine, Kenmare, for the project Suncream Science: Unmasking SPF Levels, Investigating Harmful Ingredients, and Crafting Custom Sun Protection
- The Stripe Chemical, Physical and Mathematical Science Educator of Excellence Award was presented to Sarah Abbott, Pobalscoil Inbhear Sceine, Kenmare
- Max Hamilton, Sarah Murphy and Deirdre O’Sullivan, Community College, Killorglin impressed with their project Raising Awareness on Over the Counter (OTC) Medicine Misuse: A Comprehensive Educational Approach.
