A GREAT day of top quality soccer was witnessed in Woodlawn at the weekend – despite the weather – with a thrilling conclusion to the Killarney Athletic AFC-Killarney Credit Union underage seven-a-side tournament.
There was a brilliant final at under 10 level and while the under 12 decider was equally as thrilling.
In the under 10 final Dab United played Kerryonians which went all the way to a penalty shootout. It was 0-0 after extra time and in the high drama shootout Kerryonians took the spoils on a 3-1 scoreline. The keeper for the Kerryonians, Callum Cronin, received the man-of-the-match award for his outstanding performance.
In the under 12 final JR Spares played Flesk Flyers in what can be only be described as a cracker It was 0-0 at half time and just into the second half Dylan Roche notched a screamer of a goal to put JR Spares in the lead. They kept on to the lead to the finish and the game ended 1-0 to JR Spares, with Dylan Roche getting man-of-the-match.
Well done to all the underage players who took part in the seven-a-side as they were a credit to their clubs, their mentors and their families and the level of underage soccer was outstanding by all teams who participated.
