A CALL is to be made in Kerry for Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar, and Health Minister, Simon Harris, to respond in detail to the demands of the Standing4Women campaign set up in the wake of the cervical check scandal.
Cllr Norma Moriarty is to raise the matter at a meeting of Kerry County Council where she will insist that the government must acknowledge and support the women involved by responding adequately to their demands.
Cllr Moriarty will highlight the need for legislation and policy on mandatory open disclosure, independent of the Patient Safety Bill.
She will also call for the provision of a start and end date and full disclosure on the 1,800 smear tests yet to be audited.
The Fianna Fail general election candidate is also seeking a breakdown of the new packages being negotiated with laboratories carrying out smear slide analysis, including mandatory site audits.
The matter will be raised at a meeting of Kerry County Council on Monday.
