Kerry trad with a real Afro beat

Afro Trad: Samuel Kiwanuka, Rosie Healy and Tim O’Shea

A Kerry musical celebration with a distinct African theme has been lined up for St Mary’s Church of Ireland in Killarney this coming Saturday night with a free concert featuring a blend of Irish trad and Afro tunes.

The final Spraoi Chiarraí event of the season, which will commence at 8.00pm, will feature Afro Trad Ireland performers Samuel Kiwanuka from Uganda on vocals and percussion, and Rosie Healy from Headford on flute, whistle and vocals will and Spraoi Chiarraí director Tim O’Shea who is a professional folk musician for decades.

This is the fifth concern of the season from Spraoi Chiarraí which, with the support of Kerry County Council, has been entertaining visitors and locals for the past 18 years with traditional music, song, dance and storytelling.
