Kerry tourism gives youth its fling

KERRY tourism businesses gathered at the Salthill Hotel in Galway on Monday to meet and negotiate with key international buyers specialising in the areas of youth and adventure travel at Fáilte Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way Expo.

The event sought to grow overseas visitor numbers by targeting the international youth and adventure market which has great potential to increase tourist numbers into Ireland.

There were 60 top overseas buyers and adventure travel agents in attendance and more than 2,100 appointments were arranged for Irish businesses to make their pitches during the event.

“This Expo put some of our best Irish providers into the same room as the key overseas buyers in the youth and adventure travel market with a view to growing business for 2016,” said Fáilte Ireland’s Paul Mockler.

“The Wild Atlantic Way is perfect for young travellers seeking outdoor pursuits and there is fantastic potential to increase activity along the route and to sustain the growth which has already been generated by this successful initiative,” he said.
