THREE very knowledgeable keynote speakers have been lined up for a free Kerry webinar focusing on the environment and registration is now open to interested parties.
The Caring for God’s Creatures event, organised by the Diocese of Kerry as part of the Season of Creation initiative, will take place on Thursday, September 16 from 8.00pm.
The guest speakers will include Patricia Deane of the South Kerry Development Partnership who works as a project manager for the European Innovation Partnership project in the MacGillycuddy Reeks which is funded by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine as part of Ireland’s Rural Development Programme.
Her project involves working closely with farmers to help improve the sustainability and economic viability of farming, through the development of practical, achievable actions and innovative solutions to improve the condition of habitats of the Natura 2000 area.

Also addressing the webinar will be Hubert Servignat of the curlew conservation programme who is a native of France but living in Ireland for 20 years.
He has also been a surveyor in various conservation programmes, including the peregrine falcon and the hen harrier and he currently heads up the curlew initiative started in 2017 by the National Parks Wildlife Service in an effort to save the species.
The third keynote webinar speaker will be zoologist Dr Mary Catherine Gallagher who is project ecologist with the pearl mussel project.
When undertaking a degree in marine biology, she became interested in the area of invasive species ecology, which led to her carrying out a PhD on an invasive barnacle species from 2013-2016. Since joining Wetland Surveys Ireland, Dr Gallagher has been gaining a range of experience in habitat surveys and mapping.
