MICHAEL Healy-Rae is doing it by the book all over again.
Last year the colourful Kerry TD released a smash hit collection of short stories in time for the lucrative Christmas market and he watched the publication, Time To Talk: Stories from the Heart of Ireland, rocket up the bestseller list.
That book reflected on his life and times through a series of engaging conversation essays that recalled the many experiences – some humorous, others tragic, he has had throughout his life.
And now he is ready to release a follow-up with another collection of tales and memories gathered from his childhood growing up on the farm in Kilgarvan to his career strolling the corridors of power in Dáil Éireann and everything in between.
The new book, A Listening Ear: More stories from the Heart of Ireland, will hit the shelves in a matter of weeks and the front cover features Michael, in trademark cap and waistcoat, peering happily from inside a half door.
“I am glad that people enjoyed Time To Talk when I launched it last year. People over the last few months have told me to write a second one. So here it is. I hope people will enjoy it as much as the last one,” said the outspoken Independent TD and the biggest vote winner in the country.
