Kerry students focusing on their career choices

KERRY students who have received their Leaving Certificate results and are currently charting out their career plans, have until September13 to accept their CAO round one offers and round two offers will be made on September 20.

In total, 1,706 students in Kerry sat the Leaving Certificate this year with a further 107 completing the Leaving Cert Applied.

1,598 students – including 87 Leaving Cert Applied candidates–

opted to sit written exams in some or all subjects with the vast majority of students in Kerry choosing a combination of written exams and accredited grades.

Education Minister, Norma Foley, praised the Kerry students and their families for their resolve and dedication to their studies during the pandemic.

“They have displayed great resilience in what has been a difficult experience in the last two school years and I wish all of them every success and happiness as they embark on the next stage in their journey, to work, including apprenticeships, or to further and higher education,” she said.

“I would also like to pay tribute to the enormous amount of work put into this year’s Leaving Certificate.

“Teachers, principals and schools have shown enormous dedication and assistance in supporting both the process of accredited grades and the examinations,”she said.

“The State Examinations Commission has also worked tirelessly to ensure that the process ran smoothly,” Minister Foley added.
