WHAT a year it has been for Kerry footballer Johnny Buckley.

He captained his beloved Dr Crokes to an All-Ireland Club Championship crown in March, he skippered his county all the way to the All-Ireland Championship semi-final, he won another Kerry SFC title in October and, this weekend, he married his long-time girlfriend, Annie MacMonagle, in a romantic fairytale wedding,

Johnny is the son of Kerry Coaches owners Mike and Eileen Buckley, Killarney, and Annie is the daughter of daughter of photographer Don and Mary Susan MacMonagle, also from Killarney.

They were married in St John’s Church, Cratloe, Co Clare on Saturday and they held their reception in Dromoland Castle.

Johnny wasn’t the only Kerry GAA star to tie the knot in recent days as five-time All-Ireland medal winner, Tomás Ó Sé married his long-time partner Orla Ní Fhlatharta.

The popular Sunday Game pundit, who is 39 and still plays football with Nemo Rangers, and his stunning bride were wed in St Colman’s Cathedral in Cobh and held their reception in the five-star Fota Island Resort.

Tomás, dapper in a black tuxedo, was surrounded by his brothers Fergal, Darragh and Marc for the occasion.

He posted snapshots of the big occasion on Twitter and declared: “Brilliant day. Married my best friend”.
