A YELLOW alert weather warning has been issued for Kerry with strong winds expected later tonight and a cold snap due to set in from tomorrow afternoon.
Met Éireann has forecast that it will reach a peak tonight with strong, near gale force winds in the south west coast, particularly in coastal areas.
It will stay blustery throughout the night but rain will become mainly light and patchy although fog is expected on high ground.
Christmas Day will start mild with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle but the rain will turn persistent and temperatures will dip in the afternoon with gusty southwest winds.
St Stephen’s Day will be a bright day with sunny spells and that night will be dry and cold with frost in many areas.
