Kerry to get a real soaking

A MAJOR weather alert has been issued for Kerry with forecasters predicting that the county will get a massive drenching overnight.

Met Éireann has issued a Status Orange Alert for the area with between 50mm and 70mm of rain expected in a 24-hour period, commencing at around midnight and lasting until late on Monday night.

They say the rain will be worst on high grounds with coastal areas and properties on hills and near mountains likely to be lashed.

Kerry County Council has advised the public to take greater care on the roads throughout Monday.
