Kerry captain’s favourite singer is a true blue Dub

SUPPORTERS willing to part with €3 for a programme at last night’s Kerry v Galway National League encounter at Austin Stack Park were afforded a little insight into the life and times of Kerry captain David Clifford and some of his favourite things in life.

At the age of 21, the Fossa star has already won two Munster Championship medals, two minor All-Irelands, a county championship, two Hogan Cup, two All-Stars and a Young Player of the Year accolade, and the most exciting part of it all for Kerry fans is that he’s only just beginning.

Here’s a sample of what they discovered:

His favourite food is chicken curry and his favourite drink is milk.

David’s favourite film is Man About Dog.

The Kerry skipper reveals that Spa’s Dara Moynihan is the joker on the panel.

David’s favourite player: Colm Cooper

David’s favourite singer is a true blue Dub – Luke Kelly.

His favourite GAA player of all time is Colm Cooper and the toughest player to mark in training is Tadhg Morley.

David first started playing football as a three-year-old in the back garden and his parents have been the biggest influence in his football career.

His favourite moment in sport to date was winning the Kerry senior championship with East Kerry in 2019.

A passionate Glasgow Celtic fan, the sportsman David would most like to meet is their French striker Odsonne Édouard. He’d also love to attend an Old Firm derby.

His favourite venue, perhaps not surprisingly, is Fitzgerald Stadium and his favourite holiday destination is the USA.

David says the hardest part of sporting life is staying fit but he hopes to still be able to play 10 years from now.
