AN organisation set to support nurses, midwives and frontline staff has extended its sympathies to the family of the young Kerry nurse who died in a road collision outside Castleisland on Wednesday morning.
Kerrie Browne (26) is understood to have been driving home after finishing a night shift at University Hospital Kerry, at around 8.00am, when the crash occurred. Her car was in a collision with an SUV in the Dooneen and Meenleitrim area, on the N21 Killarney-Limerick route.
She was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the other vehicle was brought by ambulance to University Hospital Kerry to be treated for injuries that are not thought to be life threatening.

Kerrie, from Brosna, recently returned from working as a nurse in London where she had lived for a number of years.
In a post on social media, the Support for Nurses, Midwives and Frontline Staff group described the news as “incredibly sad”.
“We have lost a nursing colleague in tragic circumstances,” the statement read.
In a direct message to Kerrie’s family, friends and colleagues, the organisation said: “We extend our deepest sympathies. Our hearts are broken for you”.
It added: “Kerrie cared for so many in her short life. Her work here on this earth is done. God has called her home. Thank you Kerrie from all of us”
Kerrie is survived by her mum and dad, sister Andrea, brothers Kieron and Junior, her niece Erin, her partner Eamonn, her nan Nora, her grandad Ollie, aunties, uncles, cousins and many friends in Ireland and the UK.
Reposing at her home from 4.00pm to 8.00pm on Sunday, removal will take place on Monday morning to St Carthage’s Church, Brosna for Requiem Mass at 12 noon with burial after in the new cemetery Brosna.
