FROM Killarney Today to Tubridy Tonight – what a week it’s been for sports-mad Killarney teenager Jordan Lee who has become the focus of massive national attention in the space of three days.
Jordan, who will appear on the Late Late Show this Friday night, hit the headlines when KillarneyToday.com revealed that the talented young basketballer has been chosen for the Irish Under 15 development squad despite having been born with just one arm.
Within hours the story had gone viral and striking images of the 14-year-old’s remarkable athleticism – exclusively captured by Killarney press photographer Eamonn Keogh – were splashed across national newspapers, radio stations and television news channels.
The thrilled St Brendan’s College student is to feature on the Late Late Show where the story of his astonishing bravery and determination will be shared with the nation when he is interviewed by host Ryan Tubridy.
Jordan will be accompanied to RTÉ by his proud dad, Jarlath, and he is eagerly looking forward to sharing the inside track on his against-all-odds achievements.
Even though he was born with just one arm, Jordan was determined it would never deprive him of his ambition to become a major force on the basketball courts and he worked tirelessly to achieve his ambition.
He was overjoyed when it was confirmed that he would join fellow St Paul’s Killarney player, Ewan Weldon, in the Irish squad.

The big news story of the week – which was featured on KillarneyToday.com last Tuesday and reached an audience of over 17,500 people on this site alone – has now been splashed across the pages of all the major national newspapers and Jordan has also been interviewed on Nuacht on TG4, Today with Seán O’Rourke on RTÉ Radio One and the Ray Darcy Show on Today FM.
He is also due to appear on RTÉ television current affairs and magazine show Morning Edition on Monday, UTV is also lining up an interview and Basketball Ireland is to send a crew to capture a TV documentary on Jordan’s story in the coming days.
On Sunday, Jordan will play in combined trials for the Under 15 international programme and success could mean representing Ireland at a European level.
