Joanna’s talk lived up to the forecast

It’s an everyday topic of conversation and a total preoccupation for some but an entirely different perspective on the weather was offered to an appreciative audience at the Killarney National Park Autumn Talks series on Thursday night.

Met Éireann weather specialist Joanna Donnelly was the guest speaker at Killarney House and she delivered an engaging and informative talk and slide show focusing on all aspects of the weather and various factors and patterns it entails.

Joanna, who also presents the weather forecast on RTÉ, has been a staff member with Met Éireann since 1995 and has been presenting on RTÉ since 2002.

A STEM ambassador, she is passionate about her role in weather-related education outreach programmes and she is an adjudicator in the RDS Science Blast projects every year.

Joanna is also the author of the big selling Great Irish Weather Book and her latest book, From Malin Head to Mizen Head was also in big demand.

The organiser of the Autumn Talks series, park ranger Padruig O’Sullivan, presented Joanna with a copy of Louis O’Toole’s book, Fungi of Killarney National Park.
