A Killarney man who suffered life altering injuries as a result of an accident as he made his way home in June 2023 has just taken delivery of a specially adapted vehicle courtesy of the Circet Ireland All-Ireland Golf Challenge.

Jerry O’Leary, from Barraduff, was he beneficiary of this year’s event and the vehicle will help him to get out and about with more ease.

Now wheelchair bound, Jerry is trying to return to as normal life as possible and a specially adapted vehicle was required.

While Jerry and his wife Bina knew that the patrons, volunteers and competitors in the GAA Golf Challenge were raising funds to purchase the vehicle, what Jerry didn’t know was when it would arrive.

This changed when after the challenge awards presentation, Ian O’Connell from Killarney – a former recipient of support from the challenge – asked everyone to go outside Scott’s Hotel in Killarney where Jerry was shocked to see a brand new vehicle waiting for him.

.Jerry, Bina and their family were surrounded and congratulated by everyone present including members of Glenflesk GAA Club who were in on the secret.
