Ivo memorial was a very special event on the track

The late Dermot Ivo O’Sullivan, the well-known retired Killarney dentist who passed away last April, was remembered on Thursday evening at Killarney Races which was an event he was closely associated with.

Ivo was involved in Killarney Race Company for over 50 years and served as a very dynamic board member and chairman.

He later joined the board of the Irish National Hunt Steeplechase Committee and held the position of senior National Hunt steward within the Turf Club.

His wife, Kay, owned the Pat Taaffe trained Roman Bar which competed in the Aintree Grand National in 1976 and 1977.

He also played a key role in the formation of the Killarney Racegoers Club and he spearheaded a number of major developments both on and off the track in Killarney.

A special presentation to the family of the late Dermot Ivo was made at the races yesterday after the fourth race which was appropriately named the Ivo O’Sullivan Snr. Memorial.

This Friday is ladies’ day at the raves with super prizes of trips to Paris and Milan for the best dressed lady and man at the track.
