It’s the new Fred and Ginger

Mike Milner Kelly Anne Mc Sweeney-1 ASTAIRE and Rogers. Nureyev and Fonteyn. Travolta and Newton John and Swayze and Grey.

Throw in Torville and Dean and Flatley and Butler for good measure.

They will no longer get as much as a look in now that a sensational new dance partnership has emerged from the shadows.

The dance phenomenon that is Milner and McSweeney (pictured here) has been unleashed on the world and it is capable of putting all others in the shade.

It’s time to sit up and take notice of the new fleet-footed, energetic, sensual and dynamic dance double act let loose on the world for the first time on Thursday night.

After several weeks of fine-tuning their stylish routine behind closed doors, Mike Milner and Kelly-Anne McSweeney have taken centre stage and left the audience wide-eyed with astonishment following their incredible debut performance.

They took their first bow at the Dr Crokes GAA club Strictly Come Dancing extravaganza in the INEC and they brought the house down with their terrific chemistry and choreography on their way to being named runaway winners of the stage spectacular.

GAA star Mike is a Cork native who is a garda based in Killarney while Kelly-Anne manages the family-owned McSweeney Arms Hotel.

They didn’t take their first step together until they were pitched together at rehearsals but you wouldn’t have imagined it for a minute such was their polished performance at the packed INEC.

Dance instructor David Rae – of Celtic Steps fame – can claim much of the credit for the creation of this sizzling new double act and he is in no doubt whatsoever that they have what it takes.

Milner and McSweeney brought the house down in front of a bumper crowd and, on their way to securing the audience vote, the received great praise from VIP adjudicators, hotelier Bernadette Randles, Kerry footballer Aidan O’Mahony, fashion designer Clodagh Irwin Owens and politician Michael Healy-Rae.

The other brave couples taking to the stage were Katie Hickey and Colm Foley, Frances O’Sullivan and Niall O’Callaghan, Andrea Leahy Hartnett and Andrew Kennelly, Helen Fitzgerald and Johnny McGuire, Mags Casey and Ger O’Shea, Sinead Galvin and Brendan McMahon, Mary Brosnan and Brian O’Callaghan, Áine McMahon and Maurice O’Donoghue and Gemma Kavanagh and Johnny Courtney.

One of the highlights of the night was the sensual performance of a number of Crokes legends from the 1992 All-Ireland Club 1992 who brought the house down when they strutted their stuff for a truly memorable Fully Monty style dance routine – stripping right down to their black boxers.

Observers heaped praise on all involved in this very worthy fundraiser which is being hailed as the fun social highlight of the year to date.
