A number of striking entries from Kerry hugely impressed the adjudicators of the nationwide Love Your Coast photography competition organised by the Clean Coasts organisation.

And none made their mark more than Adrian Hendroff whose entry, Labyrinth, captured at Dunmore Head was awarded the first place prize in the creativity and the coast category.
Adrian said he loves Dunmore Head and walking down to the rocks on the edge of its promontory. Two scenes from Star Wars were filmed there and it’s a location where you can witness the power of the sea, hear the seabirds and watch the sunset.

“On this occasion I used my tele-photo lens to capture a cross-section of this island, which looked like a rocky labyrinth, setting off my exposure when a blast of sunlight lit up its back, with a gull perched on one of its crags giving some scale,” Adrian explained.
Additionally, Todor Tilev’s shot, Sunset at Inch Beach, was awarded second in the people and the coast category.
The image was taken during a family holiday to the Dingle Peninsula, on the way back from Killarney, when Todor noticed a kitesurfer during a stop at Inch Beach and decided to zoom in.
Other images taken at other locations in Kerry, including Clogher Beach, Inch, St Finian’s Bay, Dunmore Head, Kells, Fenit and Little Skelligs were shortlisted among the top 10 images in the other categories.
