Don’t whisper it – shout out from the rooftops.
It’s Christmas in Killarney and don’t let anybody try to tell you otherwise.
Already long established as the country’s premier tourist town, it will also enhance its fully deserved reputation as the most spectacular festive season town in the entire country in the coming days and weeks.
The first of the spectacular Christmas Magic Parades will wind its way through the streets this Saturday evening, commencing at 6.00pm from Lewis Road and passing through College Street, Plunkett Street, Main Street and High Street.

And to add to the fantastic occasion, Mayor of Killarney, Cllr Brendan Cronin, will officially switch on the incredible street lights and illuminate the feature giant decorations located around the town.
Further parades are planned for December 2nd, 9th and 16th and what promises to be an emotion-charged and charming added attraction this year will be the gala festive Welcome Home Parade at 7.00pm on Friday, December 22nd.
It will have a very special greeting lined up for those returning to Killarney for Christmas from wherever they are in the world and, in addition, on December 23rd, there will be a special welcome home get-together in the newly opened Pig’s Lane which is located beneath the well-trodden streets of Killarney.

Disney-style parades, with floats and characters and, of course, Santa Claus himself, magnificent lights and decorations, a really unique Santa’s Grotto experience at a very special and magical location, sensational shopping and all the fun of the season of goodwill will ensure Ireland’s tidiest large town will also become the undisputed country’s Christmas capital for 2023.
This colourful, feelgood celebration showcases Killarney in a truly magnificent light and the parades attract people from all over the country and beyond.
If you haven’t been in Killarney for a Magic Parade at Christmas, you really don’t know what you’re missing.
Spectacular festive lights display
The streets of Killarney will be illuminated like never before this year thanks to the most elaborate festive lighting display the town has ever seen.

It was already one of the most spectacular festive season exhibitions in the country but this year an extra €35,000 has been invested on the street lights thanks to the finance received through the Ukrainian Recognition Fund.
With the lights and the magnificent street decorations, including giant baubles and toy soldier lined streets, Killarney will sparkle right through the festive season, creating the perfect backdrop and atmosphere for locals and visitors to enjoy the season to be jolly.
In addition to everything else there will be magical sleigh rides in the park and throughout the town, musicals, live bands, festive concerts, food events and a real party atmosphere as Killarney pulls out all the stops to ensure Christmas 2023 is a real cracker.
