THE people of Beaufort are being “driven demented” by constant water breaks which are cutting off supply to homes and businesses in the parish, a meeting of Kerry County Council heard this Monday.
Cllr Michael Cahill said the nightmare situation has been ongoing for years and the locals have suffered long enough and are not prepared to take it anymore.
”It’s about time the people of Beaufort were treated with a bit of respect. It’s worse than any third world country at this stage,” he said.
Cllr Cahill said it would appear that Irish Water is not fit for purpose and if they can’t solve the problems in Beaufort, those responsible should resign.

“Are they going to do their job or not? If they don’t then everybody, from the chief executive down, should resign with immediate effect,” he stated.
Cllr Marie Moloney pointed out that surrounding areas like Faha also suffer every time there is a break in the water supply.
One Beaufort business took to social media to highlight the situation at the weekend.
Kate Kearney’s Cottage – which is operating a food takeaway service – said on Sunday that the premises had been left without water again.
“We’ve been open for seven weekends and haven’t had water, at some stage, for at least four of those weekends,” the business said on Facebook.
As a result of the latest break, the restaurant wasn’t able to serve customers any hot drinks.
