Keep your distance: Covid-19 remains a real threat in communities

TWENTY more cases of the coronavirus have been diagnosed in the Republic of Ireland, bringing the total number of people infected to 25,845.

There was no further death reported today and the number of fatalities remains at 1,763.

There was no new case reported in Kerry for the ninth consecutive day with the number of infections in the county remaining at 316.

Department of Health Acting Chief Medical Officer, Dr Ronan Glynn, said it is important to stress that Covid-19 is a highly infectious disease that is still circulating in our communities.

“It is a dangerous illness that no one wants to catch,” he said.

Dr Glynn added: “While we have reason to be positive, we now need to continue to work together towards our collective goal of resuming healthcare services, reopening our children’s schools and protecting the most vulnerable.”
