Issues at Aghadoe are highlighted

Site surveys and designs for an upgraded sewage system in the Birch Hill development in Aghadoe have been completed, Kerry County Council has confirmed.

Replying to queries from Cllr Brendan Cronin and Cllr Maura Healy-Rae, the local authority said an application has been submitted to Irish Water for connection but there are a number of wayleave issues within the site that remain unresolved.

The council said water services staff are currently working with Irish Water and residents in the area to try to find solutions to the issues.

Also in Aghadoe, Cllr Brendan Cronin has asked the council to examine the feasibility of constructing a footpath from the junction at the turn-off on Tralee road to the cemetery.

He said the area is “lethally dangerous” with a hedge growing on top of a ditch hindering sightlines.

“There is going to be trouble there if something is not done,” he said.

The council said it has conducted a preliminary feasibility of the proposal but the estimate for providing a 2.2km footpath would be extensive.
