Killarney put its best foot forward in glorious technicolour last night as locals and visitors thronged the town to celebrate Independence Day like never before.

The weather played its part for the 4th July festival celebrations which commenced earlier in the day with an Irish and American flag-raising ceremony at the town hall before the spectacular parade wound its way through the packed streets last night.
Fabulous floats with a USA theme, cheerleaders, colourful bikers, marching bands, Disney characters, super cars and even Killarney’s very own versions of George Washington, Abe Lincoln, Donald Trump, Marilyn Monroe, Charlie Chaplin and Uncle Sam hit the streets with a vengeance.

Organised by Killarney Chamber of Tourism and Commerce with support from Kerry County Council, Fáilte Ireland and Heineken, the parade was a smash hit with every possible vantage point taken up by wide-eyed children and their families enjoying a little bit of Independence Day magic.
Later in the night, soul artist Buck Taylor entertained the crowd with a free open air concert in Killarney House and Gardens before a fun outdoor of smash hit movie The Greatest Showman at the same venue.
