Ian goes Nationwide with his inspirational story

Ian O’Connell, the inspirational young man from Killarney who is living his broadcasting dream, despite suffering a life-altering injuries in an accident in 2017, will tell his story on RTÉ’s Nationwide – at 7.00pm on RTÉ One –  this Wednesday evening.

Ian (21) was paralysed from the neck down following a fall from his pedal bike which severed his spinal cord in Killarney National Park but, displaying true grit as he tried to rebuild his life, he promised to stand out if he couldn’t stand up.

Sports-mad Ian,from Whitebridge Manor,  now has his own programme on Radio Kerry and his weekly slot features informative interviews with some well-known people about their lives and times.

Meanwhile, the All -Ireland GAA Golf Challenge – which previously purchased a specially adapted vehicle for Ian’s family to use – will be held in Killarney this Thursday.

MEP and former GAA President Seán Kelly is the president of the charity and teams from all over Ireland will tee-off at 10.00am Killarney Golf and Fishing Club.

This year’s event, organised by a committee spearheaded by Liam Daniels, is to fundraise for medical interventions for people in need.

All the teams involved in the fundraiser will be staying in Scott’s Hotel in Killarney.
