With just a week to go to the annual St Paul’s Basketball Club golf classic, dedicated to the memory of club stalwart, Connie Brosnan, the organisers have thanked everyone for the amazing response.
Nearly all tee-times for the Saturday, January 15 event, have been booked so those interested in playing on the picturesque and challenging course at Beaufort Golf Club should contact Joey Sheahan (087-6248383) or Seán Brosnan (087-2065133) as soon as possible. Those unable to play on the day also have the option of sponsoring a tee-box.

The attractive top prize for the golf classic is a four-ball at the famed old course in Lahinch.
St Paul’s members and friends will be swapping their basketballs for orbs of a smaller version on the day in memory of the late Connie who passed away in March 2020.
He was a stalwart of St Paul’s national league men’s teams, serving as team manager in the 1990s, tending to the squad’s every need and, up to his passing, he was the welcoming and friendly venue officer at the Killarney Sports and Leisure Centre.
Connie’s affable nature led to many friendships and he was, of course, a keen and avid golfer so it is apt and fitting that his memory should be associated with the classic.
Connie was a key figure as chairman of the Kerry branch of the Irish Kidney Association and, having received a kidney trsnsplant himself, he also represented Ireland in golf at the World Transplant Games in 2010 and 2017.
The golf classic is open to teams of for a great value €300 per team with a meal provided afterwards.
