A CRAZED chef wielding a bloody cleaver running amok in the dining room isn’t exactly the sort of sight one would come to expect on a regular bank holiday weekend in Killarney.
But that’s what awaited dinner guests in the Brehon Hotel who witnessed the chilling scenes at close quarters – and that was only the start of it.
A lifeless body on the floor, hooded-eyed suspects in every corner and ace detectives attempting to mingle effortlessly with the guests made for an enthralling evening as the luxury hotel played host to a murder mystery event that had the edgy diners watching their backs all night.
As it transpired, when blame was being apportioned, it didn’t turn out to be Colonel Mustard in the library with the candelabra for that would have made the whodunit riddle far too easy to solve.
But guests, to their credit, put Holmes and Watson to shame as they solved the greatest crime of all in between courses on a night that was an enjoyable as it was terrifying.
Tragedy turned to farce as the night progressed as Basil, Sybil, Polly and the other cast members stepped straight from behind the reception desk of Fawlty Towers to add a touch of hilarity to the occasion – as only they could.
