Minister Brendan Griffin: launching strategy

KILLARNEY will tonight launch its development strategy to become Ireland’s leading destination in accessible tourism.

Killarney Chamber of Tourism and Commerce will host an open business meeting in the Brehon Hotel – commencing at 6.30pm – to update the business community on work to date and significant plans for Killarney over the coming years.

“The objective of the evening is to launch our strategy to become Ireland’s leading accessible destination and to illustrate the tremendous opportunity for Killarney to win more business,” said Chamber President Paul O’Neill.

Minister of State for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Brendan Griffin, will launch the strategy and Gleneagle Group CEO Patrick O’Donoghue will share his experiences and tell where he sees the opportunity for growth in the sector.

Other guest speakers will include Kerry County Council Chief Executive, Moira Murrell, Fáilte Ireland Hospitality Development Manager, Tara Kerry and  Universal Access and Accessibility Development spokesman, Paudie Healy.

Paul O’Neill: Chamber President

“We want to highlight the many achievements to date undertaken by both public and private sectors and show how, collectively, Killarney can lead the way in a sector that was worth an extra £1.3 billion in Scotland alone in 2015,” Paul O’Neill stated.

“We can extend our season, win more tourism business, including conference bids, widen our market, create more employment and ultimately develop Killarney as the leading inclusive destination of choice.

“It will benefit locals and visitors, both national and international,” the chamber chief added.

The event is open to anyone in business in Kerry and will be followed by a buffet, priced at €15 for members and €20 for non members.
