Although polling day still has to be confirmed, the general election campaign in Kerry moved up a significant notch in Kerry this Saturday with two of the most powerful politicians in the country joining the local campaign trail.

Taoiseach Simon Harris was in Tralee and Killarney with Fine Gael candidate Billy O’Shea and they spent close on an hour in town pressing the flesh and seeking support for the former Kerry and Laune Rangers footballer.
The entourage, in distinctive FG blue campaign bibs, greeted shoppers on the street, popped into shops and called to the always busy JM Reidy’s public house where the Saturday crowd were delighted to meet with the Taoiseach.
While the blue bibs were out in force in Killarney, the green jackets were prominent in Caherciveen where the Minister for Finance, Jack Chambers, canvassed for Fianna Fáil candidate Michael Cahill.
They gathered at Fitzpatrick’s Market House and proceeded to meet potential voters on the streets, listening to their concerns and discussing the local issues of importance.
Minister Chambers spent the afternoon in Killarney with candidate Linda Gordon Kelleher and they conducted an intensive canvass of Lackabane Village in Fossa before heading back to town for a meeting with the executive of Killarney Chamber of Tourism and Commerce.
Later in the evening, the Finance Minister met the organisers and members of the public at the Oireachtas na Samhna in the Gleneagle INEC Arena.
While in Killarney, Minister Chambers said he is fully aware of what the own requires in terms of development and he will look as favorably as possible on delivering the local projects.
