Hard to replace someone as dedicated as Enda

Enda Walshe: no job was too big or two small

Killarney Legion GAA Club News

As we all know, the successful running of any GAA club entails a huge investment of voluntary time and effort. As well as being a sporting entity, clubs are embedded in the fabric of the areas and parishes they are based in serving as focal points for the community as a common meeting place and a centre of social activity.

Members place a high value on their clubs and, as a consequence, they are willing to go that extra mile to serve that which they hold dear.

However, as this demand on people’s time has increased year on year, the fact is that the workload has impacted to the point that many volunteers have had to re-assess their priorities.

To this end, Enda Walshe who served as chairman, has decided to step away from his position due to work demands as he begins a new job profile.

It would be difficult to catalogue the amount of work and time he gave to his club but, suffice to say, one could see him washing out a dressing room at one point and holding an executive meeting a few hours later, no task too big or too small and all done with a willing effort.

In this vein, he has now been added to the senior team management and has already got stuck in as the saying goes with the same enthusiasm as before.

It’s hard to replace someone as dedicated as Enda but we were more than fortunate to have Fergal Moynihan step in as our new chairman and he brings a new energetic dynamic to the position and we wish him all the best in the future.
