PAINTING the town red can wait until later tonight – right now Killarney has been emblazoned in a very distinctive shade of green to celebrate one of the biggest fun days of the year.
Public, buildings, churches, hotels, restaurants, pubs and shops have all been illuminated in green and the town is looking splendid for the big celebration.
The St Patrick’s Festival committee is running a competition for the most impressive premises and there is certainly plenty of contenders with so many business owners making a very special effort.
The St Patrick’s Day festival will continue throughout the day and right through the weekend with the gala parade due to wind its way through the streets from 2.00pm, followed by music on the streets, Grand Slam parties in the pubs and live entertainment is most of the town’s pubs and hotels.
