Green theme as Kerry ploughs on with business push

Ploughing their own furrow

Kerry will be very much in the spotlight when the National Ploughing Championships return, after a pandemic enforced absence, in September.

The Kerry Tourism Industry Federation, with the support of Kerry County Council, will host a Discover Kerry tent at the big event that will take place this year in Ratheniska, Co Laois on September 20-22.

The National Ploughing Championships attract almost 300,000 people and it will give Kerry tourism businesses an opportunity to showcase the county’s great offering under one brand.

Ciara O’Grady of the Kerry Tourism Industry Federation

The Kerry Tourism Industry Federation is hoping that all Kerry tourism businesses and membership bodies will recognise the value of presenting a strong, united proposition to attendees to encourage them to visit, stay and spend in Kerry.

“The goal is to reinvigorate the appeal and give a taste of what Kerry has to offer to visitors in a coordinated and joint effort under the brand Discover Kerry,” said Ciara O’Grady of the Kerry Tourism Industry Federation.

Businesses interested in getting involved with the Discover Kerry tent should contact marketing@ktif.ie to ascertain details of the cost of participating and what is included.

As Kerry is ranked 13th on the Global Destination Sustainability Index, the organisers will be keeping the tent as green as possible and are requesting exhibitors not to bring or distribute printed materials, such as brochures or promotional items or branded pop-up stands.

Instead, exhibitors are encouraged to use laptops, tablets and direct people to online resources.
