Graduation celebrations just a stroll in the park

It was very much a case of calm before the storm as the Class 2024 in Scoil Phobail Sliabh Luachra in Rathmore celebrated their graduations before they knuckle down to the business of making final preparations for their Leaving Certificate examinations.

After five eventful and enjoyable years in the progressive school, they students spent an enjoyable last day together on a stroll through Killarney National Park ahead of their final farewell Mass and graduation ceremony.

Soon to retire principal Denis Kerins

They were dressed to impressed for the gala event where they were joined by their families and wished well by the teachers who have been part of their lives for so long.

Another celebration before the school year finished was to mark the retirement of long-serving and popular Scoil Phobail Sliabh Luachra principal Denis Kerins who plans to step down in August.

He has been a member of staff for quarter of a century, first as deputy principal and, for the for the past 16 years, he has been in the top job.

Staff were generous in their praise of Mr Kerins who has helped the school to develop in a very impressive way as creating a great environment for all the students to work in.
