GOLFING hotshots battled it out at Beaufort Golf Club on Saturday in an important annual fundraiser for Kerry soccer kingpins Killarney Celtic FC.
The Hoops have enjoyed unprecedented success at all levels this season and the crowning glory was the stunning penalty shootout victory over Douglas Hall of Cork in the final of the FAI Youths Cup.
But success comes at a price and it’s expensive to run a successful club so Saturday’s golf classic was more important than ever, given the limited fundraising opportunities during the pandemic.
The winning team on Saturday, with a score of 94, was Liam Lynch Motors which was made up of Stephen McCarthy, Conor McCarthy, Evan Looney and Ryan O’Grady.

In second place, scoring 93, was Team Tom Meehan comprising Shane Horgan, Peter O’Brien, Colm O’Shea and Karl McMahon and in third, with 92 points, was Team Mikey Daly featuring Alan O’Brien, Conor Collins, Colin Daly and Mikey Daly.
Team O’Donoghue Ring Hotels (Chris Collins, Tim Sheehan, Eamonn Condon and Brian O’Regan) was fourth and Team Simply Suits (Tom O’Donovan, Kieran Bracken, Shane Galwey and Kyle Dillon) finished fifth.
The ladies’ team prize was won by The Laurels team of Kate O’Leary, Sharon Ormonde, Marie Murphy and Lorna O’Leary.
The prize for the longest driver went to David O’Donoghue (Team Sewells Pharmacy) and nearest the pin was David McSweeney (Team Cork Hygiene).
Prizes were presented to the winners in Beaufort Golf Club by Celtic Chairman Paul Sherry.
