Golden performance by O’Connor clan at at Olympic gala

Black tie gala: Liam Saoirse Oisín and Cillian O’Connor at the Olympic Centenary Ball

They entertained the masses in Paris during the Olympic Games and now music maestro Liam O’Connor and his multi-talented family have been bringing it all back home for the athletes to celebrate again.

They memorably performed live during the summer games at the official Team Ireland Supporters House at the legendary Irish pub, O’Sullivans by the Mill, on Boulevard de Clichy.

The hostelry is right next door to the famous Moulin Rouge so visitors and locals had an opportunity to savour key aspects of Irish and French traditional culture without having to cross the road.

And just last weekend, it was back to the future for Team Ireland as Liam, daughter Saoirse and sons Cillian and Óisin again provided top notch entertainment at the classy Centenary Olympic Ball in the Clayton Hotel in Dublin which paid homage to Irish Olympians over the past 100 years.

“To be part of the Paris Olympics was a real honour but to be invited to play our music for Irish and international sports fans put the icing on the cake,” O’Connor told KillarneyToday.com.

His all-action show featured Saoirse on vocals, concertina and keyboards, Oisín, who plays guitars, keyboards percussion and drums and Cillian on drums and percussion.

No stranger to big sporting occasions, Liam O’Connor has previously performed twice at the Ryder Cup golf tournament at several All-Ireland football and hurling finals and an international rugby clash at Thomond Park, Limerick.

His breath-taking performances blend Irish traditional music with a bewildering mix of blues, jazz, rock, reggae, samba and classical music.
