Going green was the right choice for Gemma

Gemma McDonagh, from Galway was adjudged the best dressed lady at Listowel Races and won a trip for two to New York with €1,000 spending money

A fabulous green theme proved a winner for Galway girl, Gemma McDonagh, who wowed celebrity judges, Bairbre Power and Aoife McNamara, to win the sought after best dressed lady prize at Listowel Races.

Gemma wore a stunning lush green trouser suit which she rented from Dress Me Up rentals and accessorised her look with a custom headpiece from Grainne Maher Design.

For her efforts, she won a McElligott’s Kia sponsored trip for two to New York, where she will stay in the iconic Fitzpatrick Hotel in Manhattan, with €1,000 spending money, a luxury hamper from McGuire’s Pharmacy in Listowel and dinner for two with celebrity designer Don O’Neill and his husband Pascal when she is the Big Apple.

Bumper crowds enjoyed the racing, fashion and fun on the penultimate day of the Listowel Harvest festival meeting.

The winner of the most creative headpiece was Breda Butler, from Thurles, Co Tipperary who looked resplendent in canary yellow.

She purchased her headpiece from milliner Cathriona King and her dress from Kimona in Newcastlewest and she won €1,000 and a hamper.

Norella Mary Molyneaux from Listowel with country singer Michael English after she won the most contemporary outfit award

The most contemporary outfit was won by local lady Norella Mary Molyneaux who wore a vibrant purple suit with matching gold headpiece from Bailey & Co Boutique in Listowel and she won €500 and a wonderful hamper.

The judges selected 10 finalists from thousands of beautifully dressed women who turned Listowel racecourse in the fashion capital of Europe for the afternoon. Each finalist received a gift bag from McGuire’s Pharmacy in Listowel and enjoyed a Tanqueray reception in the fashion marquee.

This Saturday is the final day of the Harvest Festival meeting and it brings the Listowel Tidy Towns and An Taisce sustainable style competition which promotes and celebrates up-styling, recycling and vintage and pre-loved style.

Top international model, Sydney Sargent will judge this year and there are prizes for both male and female entrants.
