THE team at the Great Southern Hotel, Killarney has been honoured with the prestigious Large Golf Hotel of the Year award by the Irish Golf Tour Operators’ Association (IGTOA).
It is the fifth accolade for the hotel this year and it comes after the landmark business rebranded to its iconic identity of the Great Southern. It has also won Ireland’s Hotel Bar of the Year, Ireland’s Best Four Star Hotel, Ireland’s Hotel Breakfast Gold Medal Award and Best Conference Venue.
The award from the IGTOA was presented to Ettienne Van Vrede, CEO of the Hayfield Family Collection, at the association’s annual national conference and gala dinner in the Galgorm Resort in Ballymena.
The Hayfield Family Collection is owned by the Scally family and it includes Hayfield Manor in Cork and Killarney Royal Hotel, both properties that have been previously recognised with IGTOA awards.
Ettienne Van Vrede remarked: “We wish to extend sincere thanks to all our golf tour operator partners who have worked so hard to make Ireland a global golf destination”.
He added: “The golf tourism industry is a vital economic contributor to business in Killarney. This is a tremendous win for all the team at Great Southern and for all our local partners who make Killarney such a wonderful visitor experience.”
