People on local authority housing waiting lists in Kerry must be afforded the same concessions as the Government is giving to refugees from Ukraine, a Kerry TD has insisted.
Deputy Danny Healy-Rae said there is no such thing as an affordable house in Kerry and anyone who wants to build a house is blocked every possible way with planning.
“What hope has anyone of getting a house to rent when a landlord will get €800 tax free to rent to someone from the Ukraine?” he asked.
“Is this all a gimmick to portray a good image for the Government?”
Deputy Healy-Rae said he has been approached by several people who have been allocated houses but are waiting for up to five months before they get a key waiting for the key with one girl waiting almost 12 months.
