Our minis had another great session last Saturday at Knockreer. We had 15 girls at training, which is a testament to the hard work being done to promote girls’ rugby within the club.

Well done to Denise, Liam, Fiona and Ed for driving the girls’ section since the first of them came to training last year. If you have a daughter interested in playing rugby, please give Denise Treacy a bell on 087-8064112.

Finally, it must be noted that gumshields are essential at minis’ training. Children without gumshields will not be not allowed to partake in the forthcoming blitzes.

Under 18: In an Under 18 challenge match at Musgrave Park, the scoreline was Sundays Well 39 South Kerry 19. From a South Kerry perspective, it was an encouraging first game for the combined team of Killarney, Killorglin and Corca Dhuibhne. Three tries were scored by through Eoin O’Suilleabhain, Chris Scannell and a penalty try, with one conversion by Jack Evans. The team played with great spirit but had too much ball turned over and they need to work on defence.
While it would be preferable to have our players playing with Killarney, we had five participants and the feedback from all our players is very positive .The training is of high quality and our lads are being well treated..Sincere thanks to Andrew Eadie who has fully embraced our contribution.

Seniors: Last Sunday our seniors hosted Castleisland in the first round of the Munster Junior League. Having won promotion to Division 2 last season and having beaten Chorca Dhuibhne in the McElligott Cup, a sterner test awaited the men in black and red at Aghadoe.

Unfortunately, luck wasn’t on our side and the ‘Island started the stronger as they were held up for two tries in the first half. The visitors went on to win 3-15 in the end with Pwudie Sheahan scoring the home team’s points from a penalty. Next weekend the lads travel to Thurles in the next round of the of the league.
