THE death has occurred in Killarney of William (Billy) Coleman, a man who was very well known and really well liked in the town, and his passing has caused huge sadness.
One of the popular Coleman family who grew up in St Anthony’s Place, off College Street, Billy worked for many years in the former Hilliard’s Shoe Factory which was a great employer in Killarney for a number of decades.
He lived on Rock Road and his house was famous for its spectacular and colourful flower-laden garden and its immaculately manicured lawn.

It was a source of great pride to Billy and his wife, Josephine, when they scooped the prestigious Best Private Residence Award in this 2016 Killarney Looking Good competition which was due recognition for the enormous amount of time, effort and pride they put into their beautifully kept home.
That wasn’t Billy and Josephine’s first time making their mark in the Killarney Looking Good Competition, however, as they had won a number of categories down through the years, including the Best Roadside Garden prize.
Predeceased by his brother Seán, Billy is very sadly missed by his wife, Josephine, sons Alan, Michael and Brian, daughters Tina and Valerie, daughters-in-law Gerardine, Norma and Barbara, son-in-law Allan, his grandchildren Lucas, Lydia, Gerry and Gavin, brother Kevin, sisters Maureen and Frankie, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces, many other relatives and many friends.
Reposing at O’Shea’s Funeral Home, Killarney this Wednesday evening from 4.30pm to 6.30pm, removal will take place afterwards to St Mary’s Cathedral. Requiem Mass will be on Thursday at 10.30am with burial afterwards in Aghadoe Lawn Cemetery.
