GARDAI in Killarney have warned the public to be on the alert following a burglary at a private house in Kilcummin this Thursday.
The break-in and theft occurred between the hours of 10am and 12 noon and gardaí were alerted when the occupier returned to the house.
Officers have asked anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious in the area or those that may have spotted any strange vehicle in the vicinity in recent days to contact them on 064-66-31222.
Any information on suspicious callers to homes in the greater Kilcummin area should also be reported as a matter of priority.
The latest incident follows a spate of burglaries from vehicles parked in the Muckross area in recent weeks.
The public has been encouraged to keep on the lookout for anybody acting suspiciously at locations where cars and other vehicles are parked and to ensure all property is secured.
People should not leave anything on or under the seats and they should be conscious that they could be watched while storing belongings.
Church authorities in the county, meanwhile, have stressed to the public that anybody calling to homes or businesses collecting Trócaire boxes is acting illegally.
The diocese does not collect the donation boxes door-to-door and the public has been asked to bring them to their parish church instead.
