Gardai are investigating what appears to have been a failed attempt to cause criminal damage to a private house with the throwing of a petrol bomb in the early hours of this Monday morning.
The incident, which occurred at 6.30am, saw a glass bottle stuffed with a flammable liquid thrown into the driveway of a house in the Nauntenaune-Coolbane area of Killorglin.
The crude petrol bomb failed to ignite but Gardai said it certainly had the capacity to engulf into flames.
The owner of the house found the bottle and contacted raised the alarm and the scene is currently being examined.
Anyone that may have been travelling in the area at the time and might have seen something suspicious is asked to contact Gardai.
